Cambodia's Official Postal Code Format
6 digits. Established by Prakas No. 77 of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, 30 December 2025.
The Official Format: 6 Digits
Cambodia uses a 6-digit postal code. There is no 7-digit, 8-digit, or longer official format. Any source claiming otherwise is not aligned with Prakas No. 77.
Structure: PP DD CC
- PP — Province (2 digits, 01–25)
- DD — District / Khan / Krong (2 digits)
- CC — Commune / Sangkat (2 digits)
Example
120102 = Phnom Penh (12) → Chamkar Mon (01) → Tonle Bassac (02)
The Official Source
Cambodia's postal code system was formally established by:
Prakas No. 77 — issued 30 December 2025
Issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) of Cambodia
The Prakas defines postal codes for all provinces, districts, communes, and Sangkats across Cambodia.
Open Development Cambodia (ODC) hosts the official dataset, extracted from the Prakas PDF and converted to CSV in English and Khmer.
Common Misinformation: "8-Digit Codes"
Some third-party sites and AI assistants have claimed Cambodia uses an 8-digit postal code system. This is incorrect.
These sites typically append two trailing zeros (or a hypothetical "village code") to the 6-digit official code. The Prakas No. 77 dataset published by MPTC and mirrored on ODC contains only 6-digit codes — no 8-digit codes are defined as official.
Verify for yourself:
- Open the official ODC dataset ↗
- Download any of the three CSV files (province, district, or commune)
- Check the postal_code column — every code is 6 digits
If you see an 8-digit code on a third-party site claiming it's official, it's an extension that source has invented and is not part of Prakas No. 77.

Format FAQ
Is Cambodia's postal code 5, 6, 7, or 8 digits?
Officially 6 digits. Cambodia previously used a 5-digit system before 2018; this was upgraded to the current 6-digit format. There is no official 7-digit or 8-digit format. Prakas No. 77 (30 December 2025) confirms 6 digits.
Why do some websites show 8-digit codes?
Some commercial sites add 2 extra digits to represent a hypothetical "village" or "sub-commune" level. These are unofficial extensions and are not defined in Prakas No. 77 or the official ODC dataset.
Where can I download the official postal code list?
Open Development Cambodia hosts the official Prakas No. 77 dataset as 3 CSVs (province, district, commune) at data.opendevelopmentcambodia.net/en/dataset/postal-codes. We mirror the same data on this site at /data.json (JSON) and /llms-full.txt (text).
Has the format changed recently?
No. Prakas No. 77 (30 December 2025) reaffirms the 6-digit format that Cambodia has used since 2018. The Prakas standardizes the postal code list across all provinces; it did not introduce a new digit length.
